Valerie Tindall was a 17-year-old girl who went missing on June 7, 2023 after telling her parents she was going to work for her neighbor, Patrick A. Scott. Indiana State Police issued a "Silver Alert" (an alert for a missing or endangered person) on June 10.

On October 11, 2023, four individual cadaver dogs alerted to the presence of human remains at a pond near Scott's home. The following day, Police spotted disturbed earth on Scott's property using an aerial vehicle. On November 28, after securing a search warrant, investigators located Tindall's body, buried in a makeshift coffin on Scott's property.

Police say that Scott confessed to Tindall's murder during a subsequent interview.
